Trent and I did step aerobics one morning last week. Thought some exercise might help ‘lift’ me up a bit. I didn’t want to buy a step, so Matt made one for me with an old esky lid and taped 2 old phone books underneath to give it some height. Trent loved it so we made a little one for him. So this morning I pull them out and put on a music video and set the oven timer to 30 minutes, as that is how long I wanted to do it for. I go and get out my little 1kg hand weights and my water bottle and get ready to start. Little Mr “I want what mummy has’ wanted weights too and a drink. So I stop the tape, get him the smallest weights 0.5kg and his ‘fish juice’ (water in a Nemo drink bottle) and we start again. All is fun, he’s yelling out ‘go go go’ and he is happy…until he decides he wants to be on my big step and is trying to push me off it!

So yesterday morning we did another session! The weather was so nice that we also went for a walk down to the primary school (Trent actually walks down….helps burn off some energy!) for a bit of a play in the playground then back home again, so 2 lots of exercise in one day! Hope I can keep it up!!

Remember I was telling you about our daily routine….it’s now extended! When we get up in the morning, he now rushes off to the loo and lifts the toilet seat up for me and pulls some paper off the roll! It’s so funny, Matt and I couldn’t stop laughing about it on the weekend! Anyway, this happens this morning, then I go jump in the shower, and the shower routine follows, except this morning when he opens the door to hand me the towel, in his other hand he has a pair of my underwear all ready for me!

Doesn’t he look so cute in his new pocket nappy??!! I got him a blue one the same, and another fitted nappy with animals on it!

We’ve had a busy few days with lots of running erands and birthday present shopping and getting a few things organised! Trent has made me laugh so much playing football this week. He kicks his ball, either football or soccer ball, around the house with this constant loud babble, like a running commentary, then kicks it underneath a chair, and runs around madly with his arm in the air, finger pointing, yelling ‘Goal, Goal, Goal’! I’ve got some video of it, wish I could up load it here, it’s so fun to watch!!
A few weeks ago was my dad’s 50th birthday. Originally we had planned a party for him, but at last minute he decided he didn’t want one, and that he’d like to go to the Rugby instead – union that is, Australia vs England at Telstra Dome. We dropped Trent off at Matt’s parents house and met up with everyone at my brother’s house then headed in to Chadstone and caught a train in and went and had a quick dinner first. Headed over to Southbank to PJ O’Briens (where else would you go when your extended family is Irish!), but because Ireland were playing New Zealand…it was packed!!! So we just went and sat in a cafe in the food court and had dinner and a few drinks, before heading back off to get a train up to Spencer Street to Telstra Dome. My SIL and I snuck off for another quick drink and eventually found out way to our seats just as the game started! We had great seats and a fantastic view. It was a great match, although very one sided, but still exciting with all the tries scored! We all had a great time, but boy was it fun joining the tens of thousands of people at Spencer Street station trying to get a train home again!!! We got back to Chadstone just after 11 and went in to Hil’s for a quick coffee and late night toasted cheese before heading home to relieve the inlaws and find out all about Trent’s antics for the night! Although, he managed to get quite spoilt. My MIL took him shopping and brought him some new shoes, a mattress protector and flanel sheet for his bed while we were gone! We brought him home a big green and gold ‘Try’ sign from the game.
Anyway, was great to have a good night out with great company and a few drinks, although felt a little sorry for myself this morning, was up and down to Trent all night, and we didn’t get to bed until 1.30 before he started waking. Will be a very lazy day today!

Computer Geek

June 12, 2006

Trent playing ‘Boohbah’ on the computer yesterday morning! He has this whole computer thing worked out, knows how to turn it on, turn the modem on, and moves the mouse to click on exactly what screen he wants to get into (IE). We open up the Boohbah site for him and off he goes :)

Yesterday arvo Matt was outside working on his car and the crows were getting nasty at something in a tree in the back yard so he went to have a look and found 2 Tawny Frogmouth Owls up there.

I have a crappy camera so excuse the terrible photos!

Hope these pics are something to amuse you when you see them Miss M :) Hope you are resting up and not giving those nurses a hard time ;-)

Just so you have some reading :)

Very uneventful week this week! I’m sure my pillow is stuffed as my neck is out and I’ve had thumping headaches all week…or could be I need new glasses. Matt says I’m squinting even with them on. Who knows! But I HATE headaches, they make me feel crappy.

I’m having to fight Trent to get on here these days, he’s such a little computer geek, loves the thing. Just sits and types away, clicks the mouse, laughs and starts typing again. He’s taken to copying what we do when we get out of the shower now and wants to do it. Put powder on, use the deoderant, put face cream on and brush teeth. So I do it, then help him do it (even though he’s fully clothed). The other morning I finished in the shower, and was just squeezing the water out of my hair, when the shower door opens and this little hand reaches in holding my towel! How funny is that! Towel service in my own home from my 23 month old :) So I thank him for it, and get out and start my usual process, dry body, dry hair and wrap in towel, put powder on (he holds his hand out for some), put deoderant on (he lifts his arms up for some), put face cream on (he stands that pointing at his face saying ‘pweeeeze), then head into the bedroom to get dressed. He follows me, goes into my draw and pulls out a bra and some undies and puts them over his head and wraps bra around his waist, follows me back into the bathroom to brush hair and teeth then dashes off into the kitchen and stands where the kettle is saying ‘ouch, hot’. Bit sad he knows my routine so well…..or that I have such a structured routine!

My adorable little book worm!!

Ok, so trying to upload photos and blogger won’t let me know…grrr!

MAC S….hope you are enjoying the reading…and resting and looking after yourself ;-)

To my dear friend Shazzy…hope you are doing the same too :-)

I miss my boy!! He went to his Granny and Grandpa’s for a sleep over last night. His Granny needs some cheering up after some bad news and he was just the boy to do it!! I do love that he likes to go and do this. He loves the farm and all the animals and I think it’s important that he gets to enjoy the elder members of his family. I love the first hour that he is gone….then I spend the rest of it missing him and wishing he was back home again already. So I am sitting here just waiting for the call to tell me what time he will be back!

So what did I do with my night off?? Not a lot! Housework, some washing, a bit of chatting then went to bed early. Got up early this morning (crazy!! I should have slept in!), did some dishes a quick tidy up, and some layouts! Credits: Dots of Fun from Cottage Arts

I’ve loved playing around with the black backgrounds…can make the right photo look really striking!

Fun Days

May 29, 2006

Yesterday morning we headed out to watch Matt’s little cousin play footy again. Matt’s mum had brought Trent a rain coat during the week….it came in handy! It poured yesterday morning! Trent didn’t care, he was all rugged up, had his little Saints footy and ran around like a mad man kicking his ball, with a trail of older kids following him and playing with him. It was sooo cute and he had sooo much fun!!! He was drentched, and muddy and his hands were red they were that cold, but he didn’t care! He was playing footy and had half a dozen big kids running around and playing with him!! Got home just after lunch in time for a nice warm bath for him before his sleep!

And what a fun, and productive day Trent and I had today!! Kate gave me some great ideas this morning, then we just ran with them.

First up the little monkey decided to draw all over his hands and face with his textas (washable ones!).
I cleaned most of it off, but left the line that looked like his little warrier, war paint one! Next we had some races. Ever since the Commonwealth Games were on, he’s started racing up and down the hallway. He has his mark where he squats down and we say Ready, Set, Go and off he races down the other end of the house to start the next race! After this we decided to bake a Butter Cake! We mixed it all up, stuck it in the oven, and gave him the bowl to clean out!
While he did this, I put The Wiggles on for him to watch and I sat and burnt a nice dusk candle to cleanse the house and had a cup of my favorite tea. The cake turned out perfectly! We decided not to ice this one as it tastes great all on it’s own…..saved you some Jo!!!

Went to change Trenty and he was yawning like crazy, so popped him into bed about 12.40 and he went straight off to sleep. My little brother popped in for a visit. He’d just come back from WA after visiting his fiance’s parents for a few days, to fill me in on how it all went!

Woke Trent up at about 2.45 (otherwise he won’t get to bed at a reasonable hour later!!) and popped his new art smock on that my mum made him and sat him down to do some painting!

Kate suggested using cotton buds to paint with, for something different than brushes, onto an old egg carton and it was a hit! He sat there for ages painting the tops of each egg hole!
Was a great day! He’s currently running around playing footy…so I must go and get dinner started!

Do Poos???

May 25, 2006

Trent’s latest…..must prove how much we ask him if he has done poos. You always know, he goes incredibly quiet, off in another room, for a few minutes. We always ask him ‘Did you do poos?’ and feel his nappy for the evidence. It’s caught on. He now follows me around asking ‘Do poos?’ then proceeds to check my backside for any evidence!

He has though, started to tell us when he is about to do it. I got excited at the sign that he knows he needs to, and telling us…but not quite ready to pull out the potty in case it scares him off. Afterall, he’s not quite 2 yet, we had talked about TT maybe this coming summer if he’s ready, but were not going to stress until next year otherwise. He does wee’s on the potty most nights after his bath, and this has worked well as it’s not been a forced thing, he just does it when he wants to.

Speaking of which, the slow transition back to cloth nappies has been a shocker so far! Finding pins that hold, plastic covers that hold it all in. But luckily enough we got some second hand fitted ones and PUL covers Kate’s friends were selling and it has been soooo much easier!! And they are the cutest little fitted nappies! I can’t wait to get some more. His little bum looks sooo spunky in them.

Hasn’t been as bad as I thought going back to washing nappies again, actually, I’ve quite enjoyed it! Big thanks to Kate for organising the ones I got from the other Kate, and to Rae for sending her lot off to me so quickly :)

Matt’s friend Yoko got married last month. Full traditional Japanese wedding, the photos of their traditional dress were great..but I can’t believe how many changes of clothes they have to go through!!

Have had a very quiet, uneventful week otherwise, just busy with some personal stuff, so will leave you with some photos of my ‘Super Fish’ racing in the bath :)

Yesterday we had a long overdue play date with Annette and Caleb. The day started off terribly. We slept in until just after 8, after being up a lot the night before. I go and jump in the shower and Trent decides to destroy my house. He has NEVER done anything like this before. He pulled the table runner off the table, along with the bowl full of pot puri, my incence holder with ash in it and a few candles and glass decorations, he tipped green cordial onto my newly knitted white scarf, then obviously proceeded back down to his bedroom to empty out the little trinket boxes with his hair from his first hair cut, his bands from the hospital when he was born, and a crystal train he got from his God Parents for his baptism. So the mood was set. I get him organised, we head out to the car, where he decides to run over and check out his big truck, which had been left outside, and the dump bucket at the back full of water, and decided to lean into it. All wet. Back inside to quickly change him, SMS Annette saying we are running late, and head off, with me cursing and carrying on.

Stop about 20 minutes later to realise I’m in Donvale when I should be in Warrandyte. Pull over and get the melways out to see how I can get back to Eltham from there, no worries, Fitzsimmons Lane takes me straight through. Turn off onto the road I need to be on and head up the hill….and my dream starts, the one Matthew and I always have driving along this particular road, the beautiful estate on the left hand side, all the big, huge houses up on the hill that we dream of owning and I start fantasising about us owning one. Suddenly realise I have no idea where I am, when the phone rings, it’s Matthew, so I ask him to get his melways out and direct me. I head back down another road and turn left into the correct street, when I realise, this street is Annette’s……and it’s the street that runs right through the middle of my dream estate, with my dream houses!!! Pull up out the front of the number she gave me telling Matthew ‘OMG it’s a big beautiful house that we always see from the road’!!!

Annette and Caleb greet us at the door with me babbling how I’d always loved this estate, but never dreamed I’d know anyone who actually lived in it! Then spend the next half hour with my mouth and eyes wide open while I admired her beautiful house! Amazing!! Mind you, have never met nicer people and they well and truly deserve the beautiful things that surround them too :)

So I get over my intial shock, and we had a fantastic morning. Annette and I had a good old gass bag while the boys had a ball! There was lots of peekaboo and tickles and giggles going on in the house Annette made for Caleb, followed by some chasey down the hall way, also proceeded by lots of giggling, then finally Trent towing Caleb in his little bike with attached trailor…they were so incredibly cute and played so well together, you can see all the adorable photos at Annette’s blog.

We leave just after 12, Trent finally nods off about 10 minutes away from home. I’m driving back home through Warrandyte and it makes me realise how much I would love to live around there still and regret not buying there 5 years ago, when we ended up deciding to buy land in Yarra Glen instead. Anyway, we get home and Trent decides he doesn’t need to sleep, at all for the day. This has been happening a bit lately, and I’m just not ready for him to start dropping day sleeps. He did manage to get through the whole day with only a handful of tantrums, so not too bad and was in bed by 7.30 last night.

My step cousin Helen was expecting her first baby last year, she had just finished up work (she manages a child care centre in QLD), had gone for a routine 37 week appointment, and they couldn’t detect a heart beat. A few more tests found the baby had died, in the space of a week. She was induced the next day and gave birth to baby Madison. This was mid last year. She finally fell pg again earlier this year, and sadly lost it just before 12 weeks mid last month. Mum rang to tell me that her dad (my step uncle) was rushed to hospital last week, his brain is bleeding and he needed surgery to stop it. So much for one family to go through in such a short spate of time.

Edited to add: After last post saying how I’d been trying to get my hands on some music..guess what? I got it!!! I got Anna Nalick, Kendall Payne and as a bonus, Kate Havnevick! So happy! Love these girls!

Not much other news!

A quicky layout of last post’s photo of Trent. Kit is called ‘Just cause’ by Tracy Collins from Digital Freebies. Just love these colors! Oh, and I LOVE this photo of the boys!

May 16, 2006

A while ago I purchased the charity kit ClikChic Designs were selling to aid the victims of Cyclone Larry. The kit was designed by Kylie Clark, Trish Jones and Tracy Ann Robinson. I did a layout with it and submitted it at CD. I had no intentions of entering it into a contest until it was suggested, and I came equal first!! Was very pleased! So my prize for winning was a Gift Certificate for the CD store, and I chose a kit by Shelley Rae Cusbert called Rough N Tumble. LOVED the colors in it, and used it straight away to do a page.

I asked Trent yesterday to draw me a picture and write his name on it….this is what I got! Very clever man, although can’t find his name anywhere. Not that you would be able to tell where it is, except for the fact he underlines it when he finishes writing it out, the way we have shown him to!

I love the look he gets on his face when he’s concentrating on something, so serious and intense! I actually really love this photo…think it’s screaming to be scrapped!

Have been feeling incredibly lousy the past few days, if it’s not constant pains and nausea…I’m now again having issues with my cycles. They are slowly working their way out again, the past few months have been around 40-ish days, now i’m back out to a 62 day one, so when I finally get well enough to back on IVF, we’ll have to muck around a month or two on the pill, or a shot of DP again to bring things on and get my body back on track. I am now getting a cold of some sort, my throat is sooo sore and my body is aching. I did overdo things on the weekend in an effort to catch up with all the housework/gardening I am behind on…but was feeling really tired prior to the weekend anyway. Uuuurrrrgggghhhhh…….

Anyway, enough of that sob story! Sunday was a lovely day. Lazy morning, then off to spotlight to get some more material for my next quilt, some more knitting needles and wool for Trent’s beanie I’m starting today and a new tape measure. After that we did some grocery shopping then came home to put Trent to bed. While he slept, Matthew and I got stuck into the front garden and gave it a good tidy up, the seaside Daisies had gone mad! The boys got me the James Blunt Cd, Back to Bedlam. I have been wanting it for ages, so was very happy and have not stopped playing it! I’m trying to get my hands on a Kendall Payne or Anna Nalick CD at the moment too.

I decided to part ways with the timber playpen I got, thinking I would need it. The only use I ever got out of it was at Christmas time to keep Trent away from the tree…don’t think we’ll have to worry about that this year. So I’ve listed it on eBay if anyone is interested!

This weekend saw the Season 2 finale of Grey’s Anatomy in the states, but as most know, I’ve managed to keep up with it here and have been watching the episodes and OMG!!!!!! The second half of this season as been a ripper!!! Can’t wait until it starts back again here!

I can’t believe Trent turns 2 in 6 weeks!! I can’t believe how fast time has gone! He’s booked in for his assessment the morning of his birthday, can’t wait to see how he’s fairing. He was only in 38th percentile with his weight, and low 30’s for his height last check up and I don’t think much has changed, he’s very slight (still wearing some size 0’s and can fit into small size 1’s) and quite short!! He’s still being very protective of his mummy and still wanting lots of cuddles and kisses all the time. It is nice I still have some degree of my ‘baby’ left in him :)
